Doesn’t Red Cross provide long term recovery support?

Red Cross provides crisis interventions which include a one-time monetary grant, one week of disaster case management, and one call to assess mental health needs.

How long does it families to find new housing after a home fire?

On average, families are homeless for 3 to 5 months. This means living in a hotel, doubling up with friends or family, or even living in their vehicle.

How is your approach to long-term disaster recovery different?

We take the three elements of disaster recovery –  disaster case management, trauma recovery services, and housing navigation – and address them simultaneously. No other organization does this work.
